Eagles sign LB Fowler to offer sheet

The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to terms with Dallas Cowboys restricted free agent linebacker Ryan Fowler on a four-year offer sheet Sunday.

Once the offer sheet is submitted, the Cowboys will have seven days to match. If Dallas decides not to match the offer, the Eagles will not owe compensation to Dallas since Fowler entered the league as a rookie free agent.

The 6-3, 250-pound Fowler registered 49 tackles in 32 games in a reserve linebacker for the Cowboys. A special teams ace, he also added 38 stops on those units for Dallas, including a team-leading 24 tackles in 2006. Fowler started three games at middle linebacker for Dallas in 2005 and posted 16 tackles in that role, including three behind the line of scrimmage.

Fowler, 24, originally signed with the Cowboys as a rookie free agent in 2004. A native of Redington Shores, FL, Fowler enjoyed a productive collegiate career at Duke, finishing third on the school’s all-time tackle list with 495 and sixth with 12.5 sacks. He was two-time team captain with the Blue Devils.
