Brand medical update

Philadelphia 76ers forward Elton Brand underwent his three-month, post-surgical evaluation with Dr. Craig Morgan in Wilmington, DE on Tuesday morning. Morgan reported that Brand is progressing well and is on schedule.

The Sixers initially set the start of 2009-10 training camp as the target date for Brand's return. Additionally, Brand will now incorporate weights into his rehab exercises and also begin non-contact shooting drills.

"It was encouraging to see that everything is on track, as expected," Brand told SIXERS.COM. "The shoulder feels good, but I'm just going to keep working and following the advice of the doctors so I can return to the court as soon as possible.

"I'm ready to get back out there and help take this team to the next level."

Brand suffered a dislocated right shoulder against the Milwaukee Bucks on December 17, 2008 and underwent successful surgery on his right shoulder on February 9, 2009. The hour-long procedure to repair the torn labrum and was performed by Dr. Morgan at the Christiana Surgery Center in Wilmington, DE.
