Sixers name former GM Nash pro personnel scout

76ers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski announced today that John Nash has been named a Pro Personnel scout. In his new role, Nash will provide analysis and reports on players and teams throughout the NBA, and will report to Sixers Director of Player Personnel Courtney Witte.

“John Nash is one of the most respected minds in basketball, and he brings with him a wealth of experience and an unparalleled knowledge of the game,” Stefanski said. “We are excited to have him re-join the Philadelphia 76ers and look forward to having him on our staff.”

Nash’s first experience as an NBA general manager came with the Sixers in 1986. In 1990, he assumed the same role with the Washington Bullets. After six seasons in Washington, Nash joined the New Jersey Nets, serving as their GM until 2001. It was during his time with Nets that Nash hired Stefanski as the team’s director of scouting back in 1999. In 2003, Nash was named GM of the Portland Trail Blazers, a position he held until June of 2006. Most recently, Nash served as a basketball analyst for Comcast SportsNet.
