The Philadelphia Eagles agreed to terms with WR/KR DeSean Jackson late Sunday night on a four-year contract.
The latter of the Eagles two second round draft choices, and the 49th selection overall, in 2008, Jackson (5-10, 175) was named a first-team All-America in 2007. He scored 29 total touchdowns in 36 career games at the University of California-Berkeley as a wide receiver and return specialist. Jackson set a Pac-10 Conference record with six career punt returns for touchdowns, two shy of the NCAA all-time record of eight.
A semi-finalist for the Biletnikoff Award in 2007, Jackson caught 65 passes for 762 yards (11.7 average) and six touchdowns that year. He finished his career with 2,423 receiving yards and 22 touchdown receptions, ranking him third on the school’s all-time list in both categories. As a punt returner, his career average of 16.7 yards per return is a school record, and ranks second in Pac-10 history. With 3,293 career all-purpose yards, he ranks third in school history behind Deltha O'Neal (4,998 yards, 1996-99) and Russell White (3,367 yards, 1990-92).
A native of Los Angeles, CA, Jackson was an All-America selection as a senior at Long Beach Polytechnic HS, where he was a teammate of Eagles OL Winston Justice and LB Pago Togafau. He was also the 2004 recipient of the Glenn Davis Award, given annually to the Southern California Player of the Year by the Los Angeles Times. Jackson was also drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 29th overall pick in the 2005 Major League Baseball draft.
