Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins, who ranked first in the National League with 17 hits, 30 total bases and nine runs and ranked second in the N.L. with a .515 (17-33) batting average, has been named National League Player of the Week for Aug. 27-Sept. 2, 2007.
The 28-year old shortstop slugged three home runs and stole three bases last week. His .556 on-base percentage ranked second in the league, he ranked third with a .909 slugging percentage and he tallied seven RBI. He recorded seven consecutive multi-hit games from Aug. 26-31 as part of an 18-for-32 stretch, and he homered in back-to-back games on Aug. 28th and 29th, during the Phillies' four-game sweep of the Mets. Rollins is hitting .297 with 25 home runs, 79 RBI, 28 stolen bases, 34 doubles, 16 triples and 119 runs this year.
