Former WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko has reportedly postponed his scheduled comeback fight against Jameel McCline.

According to Fightnews.com, Klitschko (35-2, 34 KOs) suffered a serious back injury during a training session in Austria that required immediate surgery.

The fight was scheduled for September 22 in Munich.

This marks the fifth consecutive time that the 36-year-old former champ has pulled out of a potential fight due to injury. Klitschko's last fight was a successful title defense against Britain's Danny Williams in December of 2004.

A mandatory title defense against Hasim Rahman was postponed twice for a thigh injury, a third time for a back injury and finally for a knee injury.

Klitschko then announced his retirement in November of 2005.
