Former Rutgers standout Ramel Meekins (Westwood, N.J.) signed a practice squad contract with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Meekins, who was one of the final cuts from the Indianapolis Colts training camp, will join former RU and Eagles quarterback Mike McMahon (Montreal) in the CFL.
Meekins finished his college career with 142 tackles, 29 tackles for a loss, 17 sacks and four fumble recoveries. He was named team Defensive MVP as a senior in 2006 and was twice named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week. Meekins played three of four preseason games with the defending Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts this summer.
