The Philadelphia Eagles signed wide receiver Bethel Johnson to a one-year deal on Thursday.
The 28-year-old Johnson was originally a second round draft choice of the New England Patriots in 2003 and went on to spend three years with the Pats before being traded to New Orleans in 2006. He was released by the Saints prior to the start of the 2006 season and later signed with the Minnesota Vikings in October.
In his career, Johnson has caught 39 passes for 606 yards and four touchdowns, while returning 147 kickoffs for 3,611 yards and two touchdowns. In 11 games for the Vikings a year ago, Johnson caught nine passes for 156 yards, while posting a 23.4-yard average on 45 kickoff returns.
