Caron meets the media

New Flyers goaltender Sebastien Caron meets the media.


Caron will be available to play in Friday night’s Flyers-Canadiens game at the Wachovia Center and will wear uniform no. 35.

Caron, 29, has spent the last three seasons playing for Fribourg Gotteron of the Swiss National League. This past season he posted a 19-27 record in 46 appearances with a 2.94 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. Over the course of three seasons with Fribourg, he has a 64-68 record with a 2.89 GAA in 133 games. He has a 14-10 record with a 2.49 GAA in 25 postseason appearances.

Over parts of four seasons in the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh Penguins (2002-03 to 2005-06), Chicago Blackhawks (2006-07) and Anaheim Ducks (2006-07), Caron has a 25-47-12 career record with a 3.45 GAA and .892 save percentage in 92 regular season games. He was named to the NHL’s All-Rookie Team in 2003.

A native of Amqui, Quebec, Caron was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the third round (86th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
