Temple's Pierce & Madison Earn College Football Insiders Honors

Temple freshman RB Bernard Pierce (Ardmore, Pa.) and junior OL Colin Madison (Villa Park, Ill.) have been named to the Honorable Mention All-College Football Insiders Team, the publication announced on Thursday.

In releasing its first yearly honors, CFI recognized 77 players on the first, second, and third teams, while 125 additional players received honorable mention accolades.

An Honorable Mention All-American and first-team Freshman All-American, Pierce had an outstanding freshman campaign for the Cherry & White. He was named the 2009 MAC Freshman of the Year and a first-team All-MAC selection. He set the freshman records for yards (1,361), touchdowns (16), and 100-yard rushing games (6). He also set Temple’s single-season records for TDs (16) and points scored (96).

A first-team All-MAC honoree, Madison started all 13 games at right guard. He also played on the field goal unit. Madison was named the coaches’ offensive player of the game following the win over Ball State. As a member of the starting offensive line, Madison shared the team’s offensive most valuable player honor.

Temple (9-4, 7-1 MAC) concluded the 2009 season with a trip to the EagleBank Bowl, its first bowl appearance in 30 years. The Owls won a single-season record nine consecutive games en route to the MAC East co-championship.
