Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard asked for $18 million in salary arbitration Tuesday.
The team offered $14 million, a raise of $4 million over last year.
Howard hit 48 homers and had 146 RBIs last year, helping the Phillies win their
first World Series title since 1980.
Meanwhile, Jayson Werth asked for $4 million and the Phils offered $3 mil while Chad Durbin asked for $1.95 million and the club responded with a $1.35 million dollar offer.
