Philadelphia, PA (The Phanatic Magazine) - The Soul have placed quarterback Tony Graziani on injured reserve with a nagging sprained left knee.
Graziani initially suffered the injury in Week 3 when he was hit by John Nix of the New York Dragons on a late hit. Graziani tried to return for Week 7’s game in San Jose but was a late scratch when his knee began to swell.
He was then forced into action last week in Cleveland when his backup, Matt D’Orazio, suffered a sprained left ankle.
Graziani has completed 66.7 percent of his passes this season for 1,017 yards with 29 touchdowns and three interceptions. His 122.8 passer rating is the third best in the league.
The Oregon product is now expected to miss at least the next four weeks of action.
Meanwhile, D’Orazio is not listed on the Soul’s injury report this week and is expected to start when the Soul visit the Georgia Force on Monday, May 12.
D’Orazio, an ArenaBowl winning quarterback two years ago, has completed 69 percent of his passes for 1,831 yards with 41 touchdowns and just three interceptions. His 125.9 passer rating is best in the AFL.
