Philadelphia, PA (The Phanatic Magazine) - The Philadelphia Soul placed defensive backs Mike Brown and Brian Mance on injured reserve Friday, and signed defensive backs Rob Keefe and Jeremy LeSueur.
Brown suffered a hamstring injury on the opening kickoff of the second half of the Soul’s 57-28 win over the Dallas Desperados on Monday and is expected to miss at least four weeks of action.
On the season, Brown has 32 tackles and a team-leading five interceptions. He has also returned 50 kickoffs for 969 yards and three touchdowns.
Mance, who ranks second on the team in tackles with 49 1/2, suffered a fractured left ankle against Dallas after landing awkwardly on his ankle in the third quarter. He is out indefinitely.
Keefe has been the Soul’s practice squad for most of the season but was active for Philadelphia’s Week 8 win over the Columbus Destroyers, playing on special teams and finishing with one-half tackle.
LeSueur, 27, joins the Soul after spending time in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and the Denver Broncos. A third-round pick by the Broncos in 2004, LeSueur played collegiately at Michigan.
The Soul also waived defensive lineman Kevin Carberry and offensive lineman Van Nelson from the practice squad.
