Philadelphia Flyers captain Peter Forsberg will return to the Flyers lineup on Thursday night when Philadelphia hosts the Montreal Canadiens at the Wachovia Center.
“Everything feels fine. I’ll play tomorrow and hopefully I will be in the lineup for awhile. I’ve been skating by myself here for two days and getting better. Today was a full practice and I felt good. I’ll be playing tomorrow.”
On his skate:
“What am I supposed to say? It’s the same thing. I’ve been battling and trying and trying and trying. We’re [moving] forward in the process of working with it. I’m actually a little positive today that it’s going to be better and better. What can I say? It’s something we just have got to keep on working on.
“It got to a point that I couldn’t even move out there. I don’t think I’m playing my best hockey but I just have to keep on battling. We have a lot of injuries and guys that are hurt so I have to try to come back as fast as possible. Obviously, we lost a couple [games] now so it’s going to be a big game coming back and playing at home. I haven’t played at home in awhile so it will be fun to play at home for once.”
Are you confident in your groin not getting injured again?
“You never know if it’s going to happen or not. Is [the foot] 100 percent? No, it’s not 100 percent but I have to play. The groin will be 100 percent but the foot…my hope is that it is going to be. If it’s not we’ll keep on working on it.”
On doctors saying the foot is fine:
“If it would be a little problem then I don’t think it would matter but it just doesn’t fit in the skate. It doesn’t look perfect. The foot is a little crooked and it’s just something that doesn’t fit in the skate. Is it a foot problem or a skate problem? I think they both go hand-in-hand.
“I’ve been to a lot of people now and they say there’s nothing wrong with the foot, but if I would take an X-ray with my foot in the skate you would see something is crooked. It’s not in [my] head. I know something is wrong, and I know how it should feel because I’ve got the left foot how it should be feeling. I played with it for 30 years and it was fine. It comes in the skate a little crooked and that’s what we have to figure out why.”
