Busy Day in Phanatic's Neighborhood

Mr. Rogers would have been proud of The Phanatic's work on Thursday. Where to begin....In Eagles related news, doctors feel Andre Waters' suicide may have been related to brain damage, then later in the day WIP's Howard Eskin had a feel-good session with head coach Andy Reid.

In the all-encompassing world of sports, there is a local agency that takes care of your guest speaker needs. Charity fundraiser, golf outing, benefit dinner, you name it, the Philadelphia Sports Group's got it, writes Tim McManus.

Jeff Glauser writes that Billy King should brainstorm based off instinct, and then act in the direct opposite fashion when trying to rebuild the Sixers.

We also have our fill of Flyers for this Friday morning. Rocky -- Sylvester Stallone -- was named honorary chair of the club's Fight for Lives Carnival. Michael Rushton reported yesterday that a pair of Flyers, center Mike Richards and forward Geoff Sanderson, were ready to return last night against the Islanders. That, along with Peter Forsberg's 600th career assist, could not help the Flyers against the Islanders in a 4-2 loss.

In other sports action, quarterback and Notre Dame devotee Jimmy Clausen -- brother of former Tennessee quarterback Casey Clausen -- topped the final Rivals 100 recruiting list. And our very own John McMullen spouts off about the upcoming fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya, arguing that blood may not be thicker than water -- except when ignorance is involved.

Speaking of De La Hoya, he's playing at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic this week. Through two rounds, young Englishman Justin Rose and American veteran Scott Verplank share the lead at 12-under par. First round leader Robert Allenby and youngster Johnson Wagner sit one back. Phil Mickelson finds himself eight back after another round of 2-under par 70. (Lefty's Card).
