With his assist on Simon Gagne's goal at 14:19 of the second period of tonight's Flyers-NY Islanders game at the Wachovia Center, Flyers center Peter Forsberg reached the NHL Milestone of 600 career assists. Forsberg is the 70th player in NHL history to reach this mark.

With his assist in tonight's game, Forsberg, 33, has recorded 243 goals and 600 assists for 843 points and 640 penalty minutes in 670 regular season games over 12 NHL seasons with the Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche and the Flyers.

In 90 games with the Flyers over the last two seasons, Forsberg has registered 27 goals and 75 assists for 102 points and 96 penalty minutes. He was signed as a free agent by the Flyers on August 3, 2005.

Prior to joining the Flyers, Forsberg played parts of 10 NHL seasons (from 1994-95 through 2003-04) with Quebec and Colorado, recording 216 goals and 525 assists for 741 points and 544 penalty minutes in 580 regular season games.

Forsberg is fourth on the NHL's All-Time List for highest assists-per-game average in a career (.900 - 600 assists in 670 games played). Forsberg becomes the fifth player to reach the NHL Milestone for assists while a member of the Flyers; joining Bobby Clarke, Mark Recchi, Jeremy Roenick and Darryl Sittler.
