Geographically, the states best represented in the Owl class are Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with nine student-athletes listing their hometowns in the Keystone state and nine hailing from the Garden State. Nine signees hail from Southeastern Pennsylvania, including eight from the Philadelphia metro area. Golden is holding true to pursuing a MAC title with local talent by signing numerous Pennsylvania and New Jersey players.
Additionally, four signees hail from Virginia, while five signees are from New York (2), Maryland (2), and Florida (1). In groupings, 20 signees are from the tri-state area and six from the DC metro area.
Four of Temple’s signees are already enrolled as mid-year students. Twelve of the 28 served as team captains (43%), while 18 of the 23 high school signees attended the Al Golden Football Camp (78 %).
The Owls begin spring practice on Tuesday, March 16 in preparation for their fourth season of Mid-American Conference play in 2010. The squad’s annual Cherry & White spring game is slated for Saturday, April 17. Temple (9-4, 7-1 MAC) concluded the 2009 season with a trip to the EagleBank Bowl, its first bowl appearance in 30 years. The Owls won a single-season record nine consecutive games en route to the MAC East co-championship.
