Sixers to honor Herb Magee

In recognition of becoming the winningest coach in NCAA Men's College Basketball, the Philadelphia 76ers will honor Philadelphia University Coach Herb Magee on his milestone achievement when the Sixers host the
Oklahoma City Thunder at the Wachovia Center on Tuesday, March 30 at 7 p.m.

Magee entered the record books surpassing legendary coach Bobby Knight with his 903rd victory on Tuesday, February 23, when Philadelphia University defeated Goldey-Beacom College, 76-65, at Philadelphia University's Gallagher Athletic Center.

"It is a remarkable accomplishment when you look at Herb's career," said Sixers President Ed Stefanski. "I've known Herb for many, many years and we want to honor him for not just becoming the winningest NCAA coach ever, but for his more than 45 years of coaching at Philadelphia University."

"Herb Magee has long been a Philadelphia University icon and a Philadelphia treasure," said Philadelphia University President Stephen Spinelli Jr., Ph.D. "With his recent record-setting win Coach Magee cements his rightful place as one of the greatest college basketball coaches of all time. This is the best basketball city in the world and we're thrilled that the 76ers will be honoring Coach Herb Magee - future Hall of Famer."
