Philadelphia Police have recovered a Phillies World Series ring stolen at Citizens Bank Park on Monday.
A sub-contractor working in the stadium when the ring went missing was the culprit. The suspect's apartment was searched Wednesday and police found the ring, valued at nearly $11,000.
The ring belonged to a member of the Phillies marketing department, who accidentally left it unattended in an employee restroom.
UPDATE: The Philadelphia Police Department identified the suspect as 53-year-old Anthony Moble, a janitorial worker with a lengthy criminal past that includes murder.
According to investigators, Mobley hid the ring on a shelf in a public bathroom after discovering the ring in a separate executive bathroom on Monday.
"This sub-contracted employee of the Phillies had secreted it, wrapped in a paper towel up on a shelf where he actually had to climb up in a supply closet," Captain Laurence Nodiff said.
According to court records, Mobley is a convicted murderer and robber who spent 27 years in prison until he was paroled in 2001.
"It has been two agonizing days for the ring owner, so we are thrilled that the situation has a happy ending," the Phillies said in a statement. "The Philadelphia Police Department, particularly the South Detective Special Investigation Unit, did an outstanding job helping to swiftly solve the case."
