Flyers recall Gratton; send Nodl, Munroe to Phantoms

The Philadelphia Flyers recalled forward Josh Gratton from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms.

Gratton, 26, is scoreless in 11 games for the Flyers this season. He has recorded three goals and three assists for six points and 24 penalty minutes in 12 AHL games this season. He has scored a goal in five games with the Phantoms this season. He posted five points (2G,3A) in seven games for the Nashville Predators’ American Hockey League affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals. He was acquired by the Flyers from Nashville in exchange for Tim Ramholt on October 30, 2008. He was signed as a free agent by Nashville on July 9, 2008.

He split the 2007-08 season between the Phoenix Coyotes, San Antonio Rampage (Phoenix’s AHL affiliate) and the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. He was scoreless in one regular season game for the Coyotes. In 58 AHL regular season games, Gratton registered 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points and 196 penalty minutes.

In 78 career NHL regular season games over parts of four seasons with the Flyers (2005-06 and 2008-09) and Phoenix (2005-06 through 2007-08), Gratton has posted three points (2G,1A) and 268 penalty minutes. He was scoreless in three regular season games for the Flyers during the 2005-06 season. He was traded by the Flyers, along with Florida’s second round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft and Tampa Bay’s second round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, to Phoenix in exchange for Denis Gauthier on March 9, 2006. He was originally signed as a free agent by the Flyers on July 27, 2004.

In addition, the team announced that forward Andreas Nodl ad goalie Scott Munroe was reassigned to the Phantoms. Nodl posted three assists and two penalty minutes in 24 games for the Flyers this season. He has recorded three points (1G,2A) and six penalty minutes in five games for the Phantoms this season.

A native of Vienna, Austria, Nodl was drafted by the Flyers in the second round (39th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Munroe, 26, dressed, but did not play, in the Flyers’ last two games, against Colorado on December 16 or at Montreal on December 18, after being recalled from the Phantoms on December 16. He has posted a 13-5-0 record, 2.32 goals-against average, .928 save percentage and three shutouts in 18 games for the Phantoms this season.

He was originally signed as a free agent by the Flyers on March 18, 2006.
