Student Athlete of the Year Scholarships.

While Wing Bowl tickets go on sale on Monday, December 15 at 9 a.m., tickets to the final 76ers game at the Wachovia Spectrum against the Chicago Bulls on Friday, March 13 will go on sale one hour later. As a special bonus, the first 500 fans purchasing their tickets to the history game in person at the Spectrum box office on Monday, December 15 at 10 a.m. (only) can immediately take a tour of the Sixers former locker room and meet Sixers Alumni.

Sportsradio 610 WIP morning personalities Angelo Cataldi and Wing Bowl Founder Al Morganti are limiting this year’s competitors to amateur eaters only, as opposed to previous contests, which featured professional eaters. Wing Bowl contestants are selected based on their ability to complete various challenging eating stunts before they devour the chicken wings in the annual competition at Wing Bowl.

"Every year, we try to add to the thrills and the craziness of Wing Bowl, and this year we think we have a perfect formula. We will honor our first sports championship in a quarter-century by going back to our roots, by honoring all of the neighborhoods that were such a big part of the Phillies celebration. We want every community, from Mayfair to Mullica Hill, to have a representative competitor at Wing Bowl 17. We want to find a new local champion to challenge the great professionals. And, above all, we want to take that excitement of last October and November and rekindle it on Jan. 30, 2009 at Wing Bowl 17," said Cataldi.

WIP is heading into the local neighborhoods to search for the best eaters and hometown heroes to compete for the coveted title of Wing Bowl Champion. Participants will be qualified through approved on air stunts during the Sportsradio 610 WIP Morning Show or through one of eight "Wing-Offs." Two-time defending champion Joey Chestnut will not compete, as he is deemed a professional eater, which makes him ineligible for this year's event. WIP Wing Bowl 17 continues Philadelphia's neighborhood celebration by paying tribute to true homegrown heroes and the City of Philadelphia's first championship team in 25 years. The Phillies World Series Trophy is scheduled to appear.

WIP Wing Bowl 17 features selected eaters, nearly 20,000 listeners in attendance cheering them on, and members of the worldwide media chronicling the event. Nearly 30 competitors will attempt to eat the most wings for prizes and glory. PJ Whelihans is the official supplier of wings for WIP Wing Bowl 17, their second consecutive year as sponsor and supplier.

An impressive and valuable list of prizes awaits Wing Bowl contestants and participants:
