Ruben Amaro Jr. signed a three-year deal to take over as general manager of the World Series champion
Phillies.
Amaro just completed his 10th season as assistant GM and replaces the retiring Pat Gillick.
The 43-year-old Amaro worked under former GM Ed Wade for seven seasons and the last three with Gillick.
Amaro won out over scouting director Mike Arbuckle, who will leave the organization after 15 years.
