Philadelphia, PA -- Leonard
Weaver will end his career in Philadelphia.
Weaver, the former Eagles' fullback, revealed on Monday that he will sign a one-day contract and
officially announce his retirement with
the team in a press conference tomorrow
at the NovaCare Complex at 1:00 p.m. (ET) tomorrow.
Armed
with a unique combination of power and
big-play ability out of the fullback
position, Weaver earned a Pro Bowl nod in his first season with
the Eagles in 2009 after leading all NFL
fullbacks in rushing attempts (70) and
yards (323) to go along with four total
touchdowns (two each rushing and receiving).
Originally signed as a free agent by the
Seattle Seahawks in 2005, Weaver played
in 63 games over his six-year
NFL career, accumulating 1,366 total
yards from scrimmage and seven total TDs.
The 30-year-old native of Florida's Space Coast starred as a tight end for Division II
Carson-Newman, earning All-America
honors as a senior after leading the
team with 27 catches for 571 yards and
eight touchdowns.
