PHILADELPHIA - The feud between Joe and Howie has died down a bit to where they can at least do business.
The Eagles completed a trade with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, acquiring inside linebacker Emmanuel Acho in exchange for little-used running back Dion Lewis.
Originally a sixth-round selection of the Browns in 2012, Acho (6-foot-1, 240) missed the entire 2012 season after being placed on injured reserve on Aug. 27 with a knee injury.
Acho, 22, appeared in 48 games at the University of Texas, where he recorded 280 tackles, eight sacks, seven forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions. He started 13 games as a senior in 2011, garnering All-Big 12 first-team honors after leading the Longhorns with 131 tackles while adding three sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. While at Texas, he was twice honored with the Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholarship Award, which recognizes minority student-athletes who are committed to both education and athletics.
Lewis played 24 games over two seasons with the Eagles and rushed for 171 yards on 36 carries with a pair of touchdowns. The Eagles selected the Pittsburgh product in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
“Dion is a back who runs with very good quickness and vision,” said Browns Head Coach Rob Chudzinski. “He is a promising young player who will add depth, which is extremely important at that position.”
“Dion had an extremely productive college career and responded well in his limited chances with the Eagles,” added Browns CEO Joe Banner. “We felt this would be a good opportunity for him and us, and we are happy that Dion is now a member of the Browns.”
