The first move of trade deadline 2013 has been made by the Flyers, and it's a big one: Adam Hall was claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Hall, a 32-year-old Michigan native, posted four assists in 20 games with the Bolts, after failing to record a point in six appearances with Carolina earlier in the season.
A 10-year NHL veteran who played collegiate hockey for Michigan State, Hall has totaled 65 goals and 147 points in 591 NHL games for Nashville, the Rangers, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Tampa and the Hurricanes.
Despite being a defensively-oriented forward with penalty-killing skills, Hall is a lifetime minus-60 with 259 penalty minutes. However, he is somewhat of a faceoff specialist, clocking in at 56.5 percent over the last three years.
His presence is a clear stop-gap measure to deal with the absence of Max Talbot, who is presumed to be lost for the season with a broken leg. Speaking of ex-Pens, Hall was part of Pittsburgh's 2008 Stanley Cup Finals team which lost to Detroit.
Hall has been given uniform #18, last worn by former captain Mike Richards from 2005-11.
