DeSean Jackson’s game-winning 65-yard punt return against NYG voted greatest play in NFL history

DeSean Jackson’s 65-yard punt return for a touchdown versus the New York Giants on Dec. 19, 2010 has been voted the greatest play in NFL history via the second annual NFL ‘Bracketology.’

Jackson’s game winning return for a touchdown was the final play in the Eagles a 38-31 win and capped a 28-point fourth quarter which erased a 21-point deficit.

The second annual NFL ‘Bracketology’ began with a 64-play field which was determined by an NFL.com/NFL Network editorial panel. Starting on March 18 and continuing through April 9, fans voted in the six-round, bracket-style tournament to determine which play was the greatest in NFL history.  Jackson’s walk-off punt return defeated San Francisco 49ers quarterback Steve Young’s 1988 winding touchdown run vs. the Minnesota Vikings in the finals of NFL ‘Bracketology’ by receiving 57.8% of the votes in their matchup.

The plays in which Jackson’s walk-off punt return defeated throughout the course of NFL ‘Bracketology’ are the following:

Round 1

Jackson received 67.2% of votes

o   Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick’s OT touchdown run vs. Minnesota Vikings in 2002

Round 2

Jackson received 65.8% of votes

o   Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Billy “White Shoes” Johnson’s Hail Mary touchdown catch in 1983 vs. San Francisco 49ers

Round 3

Jackson received 61.6% of votes

o   Detroit Lions Barry Sanders’ touchdown run vs. New England Patriots in 1994

Round 4

Jackson received 82.8% of votes

o   San Francisco 49ers ‘The Catch’ -  Quarterback Joe Montana’s touchdown pass to tight end Dwight Clark in 1982 vs. Dallas Cowboys

Round 5

Jackson received 88.7% of votes

o   Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu’s flying tackle vs. Tennessee Titans in 2010

Final

Jackson received 57.8% of votes

o   San Francisco 49ers quarterback Steve Young’s winding run vs. Minnesota Vikings 1988
