Union acquire Columbian D Alzate

CHESTER, Pa. (August 5, 2010) - Philadelphia Union announced today the signing of central defender Juan Diego González Alzate.

The Colombian player will be eligible to play for the Union upon receipt of his International Transfer Certificate.

Born in Medellín, Colombia, González brings a wealth of experience to the Union, as he has played for clubs in Colombia, Argentina and Mexico. Praised throughout his professional career for his leadership in the back line and his heading ability, Gonzalez won a Colombian Cup with La Equidad in 2008 and an International Mercosur Cup with Argentinean San Lorenzo in 2001.
