Temple's Guzman to play in Slovakia

PHILADELPHIA (08/27/10) – Luis  Guzman, the starting point guard on the 2009-10 Temple University men’s basketball team that posted a 29-6 record en route to a third straight Atlantic 10 Conference championship, has signed a contract to play with the BK 04 AC LB SPISSKA NOVA VES, a professional team based in Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia.

The 6-3 guard led the Owls assist-to-turnover (2.07) in his senior season, while also setting career-highs in points (173, 4.9 ppg.), rebounds (147, 4.2 rpg.) and assists (112, 3.2 apg.). The Bronx, N.Y. native (Paramus Catholic HS) ended his career with 361 points, 280 rebounds and 224 assists. 

Guzman, who earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in three and a half years, served as a team captain for the Owls, who ended the season ranked 12th in the Associated Press poll.
