Flyers extend qualifying offers to Gustafsson, Lauridsen

The deadline for making qualifying offers will pass today, and the Flyers made their bid to keep a trio of young defensemen who made an impression this past season.

Erik Gustafsson, Oliver Lauridsen and Brandon Manning, along with forward Eric Wellwood, are all pending restricted free agents.

Gustafsson totaled three goals and eight points in 27 games last year, called up from Adirondack as a semi-permanent fixture for a crippled back line. Lauridsen got his first taste of the NHL with his 15-game stint near the end of the schedule, and racked up two goals, one assist and 34 penalty minutes. Manning posted two assists in six NHL appearances.

Wellwood, of course, is on the comeback trail from a nasty skate-blade-induced cut to his leg suffered on April 8 against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

The club did not tender an offer to either forward Mitch Wahl or defenseman Blake Kessel.
