Sixers reportedly pick up Anderson, Ohlbrecht off waivers

James Anderson
PHILADELPHIA - CSNPhilly.com, citing a league source, is reporting that the Sixers have been awarded shooting guard James Anderson and big man Tim Ohlbrecht off waivers from the Houston Rockets.

The Rockets had to waive both to make room for Dwight Howard, and Sam Hinkie is obviously very familiar with each player from his time in south Texas.

The 6-foot-6 Anderson is a former first-round pick of the San Antonio Spurs, No. 20 overall in the 2010 NBA Draft. The Oklahoma State product was the Big 12 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year with the Cowboys but never broke through with the Spurs, playing in just 87 games over three seasons. Anderson played in 29 contests for the Rockets in 2012-13, averaging 4.0 points and shooting just over 40 percent from the field.

Ohlbrecht is a 6-foot-11, 255-pound power forward/center, who spent most of his career playing in his native Germany before moving to the D-League last year. He was a two-time German League All-Star and a  2013 NBA D-League All-Star as a member of the  Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Houston signed him in February.
