Chester, Pa. (The Phanatic Magazine) – Philadelphia Union captain Carlos Valdes as well as Gabriel Gomez and Keon Daniel have all been called up for international duty by Colombia, Panama and Trinidad and Tobago, respectively.
Colombia will train in Madrid, Spain in advance of World Cup Qualifying matches in September. Panama travels to Faro, Portugal to face the Portuguese National Team on August 15, while Trinidad and Tobago will take on Canada at Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, just outside of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. that same day.
Valdes has been capped four times by Colombia and has scored one goal since his first call-up to the senior squad in 2008. This is the first time since 2010 that Valdes has been invited to train with the first team.
The Panamanian captain, Gomez made his debut with the senior national team against El Salvador on February 9, 2003. Since then, he has been capped 75 times, notching eight goals. Gomez’s last five tallies with the Red Tide came in 2011, helping Panama reach the 2011 Gold Cup semifinals. Gomez was one of Panama's top players in the tournament, scoring a penalty kick goal against the US in a group stage upset.
Daniel has made 51 appearances and scored nine goals for Trinidad and Tobago since making his debut in 2007
