Soul Championship Game news and notes

PHILADELPHIA (The Phanatic Magazine) - Here's some news and notes to get you ready for the AFL American Conference Championship Game between the Jacksonville Sharks and the Philadelphia Soul:

*This will be the first time the Soul will be playing in the American Conference Championship since winning the ArenaBowl in 2008.

* The Soul broke the AFL single-season scoring record with 1,228 points during the regular season.

* The Soul’s 15-3 record during the 2012 season was the best in the AFL.

* The Soul finished the 2012 season ranked atop the AFL in scoring offense (68.2 points per game) and rushing yards (796).

*The Philadelphia defense held teams to 51.1 points per game in 2012, ranked fifth in the AFL.

*QB DAN RAUDABAUGH has recorded a triple-digit passer rating in eight consecutive games. Raudabaugh connected on 19-of-31 passes for 250 yards and 7 TDs in the Soul’s victory last week. During the 2012 regular season, Raudabaugh broke team records for passing yards in a single season (4,790), passing TDs in a single season (115), pass completions in a single season (362) and TD passes in a game (11). In his last outing against Jacksonville (6/16) Raudabaugh completed 14-of-24 passes for 164 yards and 3 TDs.

* FB DERRICK ROSS has rushed for a touchdown in all 17 games played this season and  became the first rusher in AFL history to record back-to-back 30-touchdown seasons. He also became the first rusher in league history to record back-to-back 600+ yard seasons and  set the single-season AFL record for rushing yards (645). Ross also set single-season franchise records for rushing yards (645) and rushing touchdowns (32).

*WR JEFF HUGHLEY spent the 2011 season with the Sharks. Hughley was named to the 2012 AFL All-
Ironman Team earlier this week. He set single-season franchise records for kickoff return yards and combined kick return yards (1,865).

*WR DONOVAN MORGAN has caught a touchdown pass in 12 consecutive games played.

*WR LARRY BRACKINS has caught a touchdown pass in six consecutive games played.

* DL BRYAN ROBINSON set the single-season AFL record for blocked kicks (7) and set single-season franchise records for sacks (10) and blocked kicks (7).

* DB KENT RICHARDSON set the single-season franchise record for interceptions (14) and finished his 2012 campaign tied for a league-high in INTs with 14.
