Auburn-Oregon on track to be most watched cable TV program of all-time

Last night's Auburn-Oregon BCS National Champion Game recorded a 16.1 rating on the major market metered ratings and is expected to end up as the most watched show in the history of cable television.

The game did a 67.0 rating in Birmingham and a 37.5 rating in Portland.

The most watched show in cable history before last night was the Oct. 5, 2009, Monday Night Football game between Green Bay and Minnesota, which did 21.84 million viewers and a 15.3 rating.

UPDATE: Final numbers are in and the game shattered the record with a 17.8 rating and 27 million viewers.
