Saint Joseph's announces basketball sked

PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's men's basketball opponents have been announced for the 2010-11 season, with a schedule that includes 12 games at the Hagan Arena and meetings with 15 teams that participated in postseason tournaments last year.

The Hawks will open the season against Western Kentucky at Hagan Arena, followed by a road game at Penn State.

Saint Joseph's will participate in the Philly Hoop Group Classic this season for three games. The Hawks will host Norfolk State at Hagan Arena, travel to Fairfield and face Rutgers at The Palestra in the tournament.

SJU will then play road games with Drexel, Villanova and Princeton. The Drexel game will be played on the Dragons' homecourt, the Daskalaskis Center, while the rivalry game with Villanova will take place at The Pavilion.

Saint Joseph's will return home to host Minnesota at Hagan Arena before traveling to Creighton and meeting the Bluejays for the third time in four years. The remainder of the non-conference slate includes road games at Boston University and Holy Cross, a home game with Siena and the annual date with Penn at The Palestra.

In the 16-game Atlantic 10 Conference schedule, Saint Joseph's will play every team once and face three opponents twice - UMass, Richmond and Temple.

SJU is set to host Duquesne, George Washington, Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, Xavier and Temple (Palestra). Saint Joseph's will go on the road to visit Charlotte, Dayton, Fordham, Saint Louis, UMass,
Richmond and La Salle (Palestra).
