The Philadelphia Phillies activated catcher Carlos Ruiz from the 15-day disabled list on Saturday.
To make room for the returning Ruiz, the Phillies designated catcher Dane Sardinha for assignment. He was hitting .205 (8-for-39) with three home runs and eight RBI in 13 games with the Phillies.
Ruiz had suffered a concussion as the result of being struck by the barrel of Jason Kubel's bat in a game against Minnesota on
June 18. He is batting .275 with two home runs and 13 RBI in 51 games this season.
