Philadelphia Union Forward Sebastien Le Toux has been named to Major League Soccer’s Best XI, the League announced today. Voted on by members of the media, MLS players, coaches, and general managers, the acknowledgement recognizes the best eleven players in MLS for the 2010 season.
"It is a great award and I am very honored to have been selected,” said Le Toux. “I want to thank all my teammates and the coaching staff, as well as the fans, for their support all season long."
Le Toux has had a stellar 2010 season, leading MLS in combined goals and assists with a total of 25 (14 goals and 11 assists), receiving the Xbox 360 Individual Fair Play Award, starting the All-Star Game against Manchester United, and emerging as one of the premier offensive stars in MLS. Le Toux also set an MLS record for percentage involvement in his club's goals, playing a role in 71.4 percent of the Union's 35 goals.
The versatile attacker was left unprotected by Seattle Sounders FC in the 2009 MLS Expansion Draft, where he was selected by Team Manager Peter Nowak and his coaching staff. The 26-year-old's work-rate and humility have endeared him to the fan base, and he’s quickly become the face of the franchise in Philadelphia Union’s inaugural season.
