The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Claude Giroux to a multi-year contract extension.
Giroux, 22, was selected by the Flyers in the first round (22nd overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. In 15 games this season, he has seven goals and seven assists for 14 points to go along with a plus-2 rating. He currently leads the NHL with three shorthanded goals, and has also recorded three game-winning goals for the Flyers this season.
Giroux has appeared in 141 games for the Flyers over parts of four seasons, including all 82 games in 2009-10. During that time, he has scored 32 goals and added 56 assists for 88 points.
