Eagles make minor roster move

The Eagles signed defensive tackle Marlon Favorite Monday and released wide receiver Cordario Calvin.

Favorite (6-foot-1, 317) was originally signed by the Carolina Panthers as a rookie free agent in 2009, but was released prior to the start of the season. He spent time on the practice squads of St. Louis, Kansas City, Seattle and New Orleans that season, including a stint with the Saints during their Super Bowl championship playoff run. He spent the 2010 offseason with Buffalo and Indianapolis, before landing with Hartford of the UFL. He signed with New England’s practice squad in the 2010 playoffs and started this year’s training camp with the Patriots until he was released on August 5.

The 25-year old Favorite is a native of Harvey, LA, and went on to play collegiately at LSU, where he contributed 78 tackles and four sacks in 40 games (17 starts).
