Armwood set to tranfer from Villanova

VILLANOVA (The Phnatic Magazine) - Isaiah Armwood, who was set to begin his junior year at Villanova next week, has decided to leave the men’s basketball program. The combo-forward plans to transfer to another university to complete his remaining eligibility.

“I love Villanova – the school and the team – but I want to find a program that fits my style of play better,” stated Armwood, a native of Baltimore, Md., who attended Montrose Christian School.

Armwood, 6-foot-7, 205, played 60 games for the Wildcats since enrolling in 2009 and earned eight starting assignments, including seven during the 2010-11 campaign.

As a sophomore he averaged 2.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 17.4 minutes per outing while appearing in 31 games. On the Wildcats’ recently completed exhibition tour of Europe, he started all five games, averaging 2.8 points and 4.0 rebounds per contest.

“Isaiah is a great young man,” stated Villanova head coach Jay Wright. “His hard work and commitment to the values of our program made him a leader of our team. We’ll miss him but the most important thing is his happiness and we support him in his quest to find a new home.”
