Phillies announce 2011 schedule

The Phillies will host three teams in the American League, the Boston Red Sox, Oakland A's and Texas Rangers, at Citizens Bank Park as part of the 2011 home schedule.

For the first time since 2006, the Phillies will open at home and close the season on the road.
Modell's Sporting Goods Opening Day will take place on Friday, April 1 at 1:05 p.m. against the Houston Astros at Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies host the Washington Nationals for their final regular season home series on September 20-22.

"The 2011 home schedule promises to offer the loyal and passionate fans of Philadelphia another memorable season. The Modell's Sporting Goods Opening Day on April 1 versus the Astros and our division rivals within the NL East should deliver some intense contests. In addition, the matchups with the Red Sox, A's and Rangers will highlight exciting interleague play," explained John Weber, Phillies Vice President, Sales and Ticket Operations.

Schedule Notes
• Interleague play takes the Phillies to Seattle for a June 17-19 series against the Mariners on the road. The teams have not met since the 2005 season. The Phillies will also play the Toronto Blue Jays on the road July 1-3.

• As has been a tradition since Citizens Bank Park opened in 2004, the Phillies will hold an On-Deck Series prior to the season opener on March 29-30 against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

• MLB adopted the recommendation of The Commissioner's Special Committee for On-Field Matters to begin the regular season earlier and mid-week to avoid playing World Series games in November.

• The schedule is subject to change.
