Rutgers' Sanu named to Hornung Watch List

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (August 17, 2010) – Sophomore wide receiver Mohamed Sanu (South Brunswick, N.J.) has been named to the watch list for the Paul Hornung Award, given to the nation’s most versatile player. Sanu could see time at wide receiver, quarterback and punt returner in 2010 for the Scarlet Knights.

A Preseason Third Team All-America selection by Athlon, Sanu totaled 1,063 total yards as a true freshman in 2009. He totaled 51 receptions for 639 yards and three touchdowns at wide receiver last season in addition to 346 yards rushing and five touchdowns as quarterback in Rutgers’ wildcat formation.

Sanu was the first Scarlet Knight since 1993 to post a receiving, rushing and passing touchdown in the same season.

He joins D.C. Jefferson (John Mackey Award) and Tom Savage (Maxwell, Davey O’Brien Awards) on national award watch lists for the 2010 season.
