Eagles sign TE Lawrie; cut Rucker

The Eagles have signed TE Nate Lawrie and released TE Martin Rucker.

The 28-year-old Lawrie (6-6, 255) has played in 26 games during his NFL career with Tampa Bay, New Orleans and Cincinnati, catching four passes for 43 yards. Lawrie was a 6th-round draft pick of the Buccaneers in 2004. He was also a member of the Eagles practice squad for the first two weeks of the 2004 season.

Lawrie holds a degree in political science from Yale, where he caught 72 passes as a senior. The Indianapolis, IN, native most recently was a member of the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the UFL.
