Eagles place Sapp on IR; claim Egboh

The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have claimed DE Pannel Egboh off waivers from the Houston Texans and placed DE Ricky Sapp on the Injured Reserve List (knee).

Originally a rookie free agent signing of San Francisco in 2009, Egboh (6-6, 287) spent training camp with the 49ers but was released prior to the start of the regular season. He spent the final four weeks of the 2009 campaign on the Texans practice squad after being signed on December 9.

A four-year letterman at Stanford University, Egboh appeared in 40 career games (36 starts), tallying 98 tackles, 15.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. He was selected to play in Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game and the East-West Shrine All-Star following his senior season in 2008.

The Mesquite, TX, was a tight end and defensive end at North Mesquite High School, earning first-team, all-district honors as a senior.
