Temple falls to Navy in season opener

Philadelphia, PA (The Phanatic) - Temple coach Al Golden went with red-shirt junior Adam DiMichele as his starting quarterback for the Owls' 2007 season opener against Navy in front of 30,368 at Lincoln Financial Field Friday.

It was a curious move for a team desperately trying to rebuild a struggling program. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound DiMichele just isn't the physical peer of his backup, 6-foot-4, 226-pound sophomore Vaughan Charlton.

"It is so close. It is a hard call and something I have struggled with for a long time," Golden said before the game. "Obviously (offensive coordinator) Coach (George) DeLeone and (quarterbacks) Coach (Matt) Rhule have had a lot of input as well. Ultimately it comes down to an intuitive feeling and a gut reaction. At this point Adam has played slightly better in the scrimmages." More >>
