PHILADELPHIA - Although its unlikely the NBA's preseason will start on time due to the current lockout, you have to go through the motions and the 76ers announced their 2011 preseason schedule today, highlighted by two home games at Wells Fargo Center against New York on Oct. 11 and Washington on Oct. 17.
The Sixers will open the preseason on Oct. 10 against the Boston Celtics at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence, RI. It marks the first of two preseason games between Philly and Boston, who will also square off on Oct. 19 at the Mullins Center in Amherst, MA. The teams last played at the Mullins Center, which is located on the campus of the University of Massachusetts, back in 2008.
The Mullins Center is operated and managed by Global Spectrum, the public assembly facility management subsidiary of Comcast-Spectacor. Global Spectrum also manages the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, which will host the Sixers game against the New Jersey Nets on Oct. 13. It marks the Sixers first game in Trenton since 2005.
The team's two other preseason games will be against New jersey on Oct. 20 at The Rock in Newark and Oct. 24 versus Cleveland in Columbus, Ohio.
