Eagles shake up bottom of roster

The Eagles made a number of low level roster moves, signing a pair of offensive tackles, Joe Toledo and Spencer Johnson while releasing three players, defensive tackles Brandon Collier and Charles Noonan, along with quarterback Jerrod Johnson. Collier has an ankle injury and reached an injury settlement.

The 28-year-old Toledo was a fourth round draft choice of the Miami Dolphins in 2006. Toledo (6-foot-5, 330) has spent time on the practice squads of San Francisco (2008) and San Diego (2009). The Carlsbad, CA, native began his collegiate career at the University of Washington as a tight end and caught 27 passes before shifting to tackle during his senior season.

Johnson, a college teammate of Eagles third round draft pick, CB Curtis Marsh, was signed as a rookie free agent by the Eagles from Utah State. A native of Lancaster, CA and a product of Antelope Valley HS, Johnson (6-froot-7, 294) was a four-year staple on the USU offensive line, starting 39 games.

As expected the team also placed wide receiver Steve Smith on the physically unable to perform list as he continues to recover from microfracture knee surgery.
