Eagles add some depth at WR, acquire Maehl

PHILADELPHIA - The Eagles added some depth at wide receiver by trading for Jeff Maehl on Monday.

Philadelphia sent offensive tackle Nate Menkin to Houston for Maehl, a possession-type receiver who played for Chip Kelly at Oregon.

Maehl spent most of 2011 season on the Texans' practice squad before being promoted and playing in three games late in the campaign. He then spent all of 2012 on Houston's practice squad.

Menkin was claimed by the Eagles off waivers from Houston just prior to the start of last season but did not appear in a game and was eventually placed on injured reserve with a throat cartilage injury.

The 6-foot, 185-pound Maehl holds the Ducks' single-season record of 12 receiving touchdowns, and is now the fifth Oregon product Kelly has at his disposal (Patrick Chung, Dennis Dixon, Isaac Remington, Will Murphy).
