Ed Stefanski joined the likes of Buzz Bissinger, Howard Eskin and Jay Mariotti yesterday when he blamed the blogs for the trade rumors surrounding the disappointing Elton Brand.
“Bloggers,” Stefanski told the Delco Times. “Blogs. That was strictly throwing it against the wall to see if it sticks.”
Actually it was Chad Ford of ESPN who threw it against the wall but then again Chad does have a blog as does Mariotti by the way, who evidently hasn't figured it out.
Maybe if Jimmy Lynam...er I mean Tony DiLeo didn't hook Brand in the waning moments of one of the worst losses in Sixers history last night, bloggers wouldn't "speculate."
Seriously, 25 points in the second half, eight in the fourth quarter and 18 consecutive missed shots to end a game they lost by two. Meanwhile, Brand is shown the door for a rookie, Marresse Speights, who wan't even supposed to contribute this season.
I'll be the first to admit Speights has been a big surprise but the fact Stefanski's own coaching staff has more confidence in the rook tells you all you need to know.
Like any GM, Stefanski loves reporters he can control.
Batter up Howard...
