It's official: Pats' Brady done for season

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will miss the remainder of the 2008 season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee during the team's season-opener against Kansas City.

"After extensive tests this morning, it was revealed that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's left knee, which was injured in the first quarter of yesterday's game, will require surgery," the Patriots said in a statement. "He will be placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the 2008 season."

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick did not elaborate on the severity of the injury during his press conference Monday.

"We feel bad for Tom," said Belichick. "He played one position. He played it very well. I feel badly for Tom."
