Soul adds two-way lineman Amoo
PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Soul announced the assignment of offensive/defensive lineman Anthony Amoo for the 2012 season. Amoo will be entering his first season in the Arena Football League.
“The coaching staff believes that Anthony has a lot of potential,” said Soul head coach Doug Plank. “A team can never have too much depth at any one position and Anthony will provide versatility to help our entire line.”
Amoo previously played for the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (2011), the Reading Express (2011), and the San Antonio Warriors (2009-10). He also spent time with the Abilene Ruff Riders (2009) during training camp, the Austin Gamebreakers (2008-09), the Kileen Knights (2008), and the USA Eagles (2008-10). He received the National Minor Football League’s Top 25 Defensive Players award (2009), as well as being an All-Star selection (2009-10).
Amoo played his collegiate football at the University of Houston (2004-05). The former Cougar did not begin playing football until his senior year in 2004 and made the team as a walk-on. He red-shirted his senior year in 2004 and saw the field during the 2005 season.
